ESNI Summary Highlights 2013-2016
Greetings,
from your friends in Ezer School of Naujan in Mindoro, Philippines! Thank you for partnering with us to make possible what Ezer Mindoro is today and will be in the future. Your prayers, time, and donations of goods, services and finances throughout this past year have enabled us to serve the local children of Mindoro and the Mangyan tribes in Mindoro. We would like to share many of the exciting opportunities, outreaches and improvements that we have been able to perform and implement through your generous contributions.
We have been able to go on two medical outreaches in the past year: one in January for the Mangyan children aged five years and below, and another in June for the adults of the Mangyan tribe where we distributed donated medicine and administered physicals.
We have also implemented a monthly feeding program for the Mangyan tribe in the mountains. We are able to carry up and cook pancit (a local noodle dish) and rice for all of the Mangyans and meet their need for physical food while simultaneously sharing spiritual food and the love of God with them. Most of the Mangyans live on a diet of only fruit and root crops, so we are able to supplement this with a more nutritious meal once a month for the entire village. In addition, we also have a weekly feeding program at the church that we built at the foot of the mountain, which is located in Villa Cerveza.
Last May, God truly blessed us with three architects who have volunteered their services to draw a 5-year site development plan. Subsequently, support from partners like yourselves allowed us to build our new staff houses and extend the roof on our existing high school classroom. (See pictures below of these completed projects).
Through many generous donations we were able to distribute vitamins, mosquito nets and slippers to many of the Mangyans and their children in Viakalan, the first of seven tribal villages that we are reaching for Christ. Through the donation of the Philippine Bible Society, we were also able to distribute 200 Tagalog New Testament Bibles.
We have also been able to extend the building of the church where many of the Mangyans attend church services in Villa Cerveza at the base of the mountain. In the church, we have added additional pews to accommodate more attendees, and are currently in the process of installing windows for the church.
At the children’s center in Mindoro, we were given a new motor for the water pump which has enabled us to finally have potable water, a very huge blessing. We are still without clean drinking water and are praying for a clean water source that is suitable for drinking so that we will no longer have to continually buy clean drinking water for the children. We have also been so blessed in our school by the donation of two computers as well as history and science encyclopedias and reading materials for the students
We could not have been able to accomplish all this without your partnership. The current needs in our center are extremely big but we have a much BIGGER God. Please join us in our prayers for the following:
- pray with us for wisdom, guidance, volunteers, provision and protection - partners who will contribute regularly towards our monthly expense of P70,000.00 to run the center (P45,000 of this is the monthly cost of food) - new PACEs Accelerated Christian Education homeschool materials used in our school program -Partners to help build dormitories for the male and female students (estimated budget P400,000) - provide one-time or regular support to enclose and paint Building A so we can expand our classroom and facilities to include a library, medical clinic, school canteen, and computer room to meet the requirements of the department of education (Budget P250,000) - Additional computers for the students - A photo copy machine to copy the study materials of the students - provide scholarships for one of our four students desiring college education at (P50,000/ year/student) - support for each of our 14 volunteer teachers at P10,000/teacher to be certified by the Department of Education -provide scholarship for our principal who needs a master’s degree in education as required by the Department of Education to continue serving as principal to the school.
Once again, thank you for your prayers and support.
Serving Him with you, Elizabeth (Betta) Silverio
