School Year 2019-2020
Last June 2019, we welcomed 16 new students to Ezer School. Our student population is now at 101, of which 98 are from Grades 1-12, two graduates on full scholarships in a TESDA Certified Program in Natural Farming, and one on a full scholarship in college pursuing education. Another graduate is a full-time worker at the school training to be a teacher assistant. Our three scholars desire to give back to Ezer School by serving as teachers/workers after graduation. Please join us in prayer for this next generation of servants for the Lord!
Answered prayer! Our heartfelt gratitude to two new partners assisting us in meeting our increasing monthly operational cost and medical/dental needs! Last July, the Great Lighthouse Foundation, together with the Philippine Medical Association, offered free medical/dental care for the benefit of the Ezer School community, neighbors and the families of our students. A total of 550 registrants received both physical and spiritual care. Below are the results of the medical mission:
Total services rendered = 843 in the areas of medical, optical, dental CBC, urinalysis, deworming, OB-GYN, Cervical Cancer Screening, Nutrition Consultation, Speech Consultation, and five rushed to nearby ER and received the needed treatment.
Ezer students and staff shared the Gospel and prayed for most of the registrants. New committed followers of Christ totaled 300 who we are now following up with for continuous spiritual growth.
Sports and Chores
And that’s not all! A group of businessmen rebuilt our damaged basketball goals with fiberglass (a long-standing prayer!) and built a large stainless steel sink in our cafeteria with running water! No more pumping water into buckets. More time for R&R.
August Nutrition Month
The purpose of this activity is to educate students on proper diet and food preparation. The culmination of the program is a cooking competition (a la “MasterChef”) using fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients available only within the school property. We were amazed at the creativity and resourcefulness of our students to whip up great dishes delightfully presented!
Sustainable Livelihood Projects
Another answered prayer! We started a piggery to educate and offer livelihood to interested students as well as to help provide for the school food needs. We began with ten pigs and have now raised more than 20. Last Christmas, we were able to sell a few hogs to maintain the operations. Of course, we also feasted on two roast pigs to celebrate our Lord's birth! Now the poultry!
The Challenge
Thank you for your partnership with Ezer School. Together, we continue to raise godly children equipped with the knowledge and skills to serve God and others. Please pray with us for more workers and partners who will desire to be a part of eradicating spiritual and physical poverty in our tribal families in remote mountain villages.
Songs and Storytelling Students were imaginative in combining their limited clothing to create Filipino costumes that they wore as they presented tribal songs and legends during the monthly student program. A generous donor treated the school to a Pinoy boodle fight lunch-a rare treat for us!
Sports festival Students organised a sports fest where different traditional Pinoy games were taught and played, ie sipa, patintero, tumbang preso and others. The aim was to develop sportsmanship and teamwork.
BLESSINGS Kids International Ministry donated another 200 boxes of mannapacks which is used to augment our daily meals with nutrition and provide for our outreach feeding programs in the tribal villages. Worship on Wheels Ministry offered once again to deliver the boxes free of charge Sept 21 was the first graduation of 75 students who completed the TESDA Organic Farming NCII certificate program in Ed’s Farm and Learning Center, Antipolo. Guest speaker was Secretary of TESDA Director General Isidro Lapena.
Two of our senior high graduates were sponsored in this program and finished with the group! Sept 22 West Naujan Baptist Church, a faithful partner of EZER School, celebrated their 22nd Anniversary with Bishop Reuben Abante as guest speaker. Our senior students led worship and praise like the sound of angels! Campus Crusade, another faithful partner, ran a training program coaching on how to conduct campus ministry in senior high schools & colleges in the community. Students apply their learning every Monday, organised and accompanied by our well-trained staff.
